Head of Conservation
Cambridge Colleges’ Conservation Consortium 
Based at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, UK 



Corpus Christi College is extending the deadline on the full-time post of Head 
of Conservation. The post is to lead the small team of library and archive 
conservators working for the Cambridge Colleges’ Conservation Consortium 
studio, which is based at the College. 

The studio has a busy schedule of work, carrying out interventive conservation 
treatments as well as providing preservation advice for the Consortium members. 

The team of conservators carry out paper, parchment and binding conservation 
for the historic college libraries and archives of Cambridge. Extensive 
experience of historical binding structures, paper and parchment conservation, 
and the ability to project manage an intensive rolling programme of high 
quality conservation work is essential. 

The successful applicant will have extensive experience of manuscript, book, 
paper and parchment conservation practice since qualification, a proven record 
of excellent practical skills and be looking to develop their professional 
experience within a managing role. You will have a degree or diploma, 
postgraduate conservation training or equivalent experience, as well as an 
absolute passion for the subject. You will be dedicated, self-motivated, able 
to manage the day-to-day running of a busy conservation centre and ensure the 
care and security of items while being conserved in the studio, and place high 
priority on the professional development of the conservation team. Excellent 
communication and report-writing skills as well as a diplomatic approach are 
essential.
