BODY OF WORK: Contemporary Artists’ Estates and Conservation which will take place at SVA Theatre in New York City, April 5-6, 2018. BODY OF WORK will bring together representatives of estates and foundations, widow(er)s and heirs, former assistants, conservators, curators, gallerists and collectors, art insurers, auction houses, art historians, art advisers and living artists to share challenges, experiences and strategies in maintaining the physical and intellectual integrity of the artist’s body of work. The symposium will serve as a platform for discussion regarding the legacy of contemporary artists within a vigorous market, the historicity and aging of contemporary artworks, as well as the ethics of current conservation strategies, from modest intervention to reconstruction. This symposium is free of charge but prior registration is mandatory.
