Posting on behalf of Maria Baruffetti, metals conservator, Florence, Italy:
In 2015 I got my degree in the conservation of metal objects and ceramics at Opificio delle Pietre Dure of Florence. I have just started my PhD at the University of Florence. My project seeks to create a specialists' glossary to unify the terminology used by restorers, scientists, art historians, and translators of ancient sources on bronze working. My research must include practical conservation and up to 12 months abroad. To begin my glossary research, I am looking for several Museums where I could spend 4 months each studying the technical aspects of their bronze collections (ideally statuettes of various periods). Please contact me with ideas and questions. I look forward to being in contact.
