The Detroit Institute of Arts seeks applicants for a one-year Samuel H. Kress
Conservation Fellowship in Paintings Conservation, beginning September 2018.
This fellowship is funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and administered by
the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation.

a multicultural and multinational survey of human creativity from prehistory
through the 21st century. The Fellow will participate in all departmental
activities, including painting examination and treatment, acquisitions,
exhibitions, and loan preparation, and will have the opportunity to work with
the DIA imaging specialist and research scientists in the well-equipped
analytical lab. The Fellow will also collaborate with other museum staff,
including curators, educators, and collections care specialists, in
preservation activities throughout the museum. The Fellow is expected to design
and execute a research project of publishable quality around the treatment of a
Late Medieval Altarpiece.

Applicants must hold a master's degree from a recognized conservation training
program. The fellowship is limited to graduates of graduate conservation
programs in the U.S. and Canada, or to U.S. citizens graduating from
graduate-level conservation programs abroad. The fellowship includes a $35,000
stipend, health benefits, and $4,000 for research and travel. Interested

[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.
Applications will be accepted through 4:00 PM (EST) on April 20, 2018. Receipt
of the application will be confirmed by e-mail. Candidates selected for an
