Stanford Libraries welcomes applications for our Preservation Specialist position.
Reporting to the Head of the Preservation Department, the Preservation Specialist manages Stanford Libraries’ preventive preservation program including the administration, tracking, and documentation of environmental monitoring, Integrated Pest Management, preservation education, and Stanford Libraries’ collection emergency response plan. The Preservation Specialist role requires a holistic understanding of the intersection between library and archival preservation and the various functions of an academic research library from acquisition to use to storage of collections. The incumbent exercises strong initiative in identifying, coordinating, and leading preservation projects ranging from outreach and education to collection surveys to periodic collection care tasks. The Preservation Specialist serves as a primary liaison between the Preservation Department and stakeholders across the organization requiring excellent communication skills. The position also provides administrative and technological support for the Conservation Services and Binding & Finishing units. This is position is permanent 80% FTE - 32 hours per week.
