The Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Cologne Institute of Conservation Sciences 
(CICS) at TH Köln, is seeking a 
Conservator  for a Research Project 
(part-time position with 75 % of the standard weekly hours) until May 31, 2021.

Your responsibilities:
As a member of an interdisciplinary team within the context of a project 
entitled  ‚A Critical Catalogue of the Luther Portraits (1519-1530)‘  
(Kritischer Katalog der Luther-Bildnisse (1519 – 1530), funded by the Leibniz 
Gemeinschaft,  you would be responsible for planning and executing the 
technical study and analysis of 16th century artworks with an emphasis on 
prints. 
 
This includes the application and evaluation of appropriate scientific analysis 
to identify features such as paper texture, watermarks and print state. Written 
and photographic documentation of the artworks in the Cranach Digital Archive 
as well as active engagement in scientific reports and publications would also 
fall under your responsibility.   
 
Your profile
- A Masters Degree or Diploma in Art Conservation / Conservation Science
- Expertise in art technological research and conservation science, including 
the confident application of analytical methods.
- Experience in written and photographic documentation (with an emphasis on 
prints) 
- Experience in collaborative scientific research project
- Demonstrate the ability to develop new lines of research and inspire team 
cooperation.
- Exhibit the ability to work independently and possess outstanding analytical 
skills
