Full Job Description: https://sjobs.brassring.com/TGnewUI/Search/Home/Home?partnerid=25053&siteid=5248#jobDetails=1240596_5248 Position Focus: Under the direction of the Exhibitions Production Manager, performs a variety of tasks related to the planning and installation of exhibits throughout the YUL Library. Provides administrative and technical support to exhibition curators. Works closely with staff in other library departments to coordinate work schedules and to ensure a clear chain of custody for objects. Assists exhibition curators in broad preparations, scheduling and project management. Organizes and tracks objects in the research, selection and exhibit preparation phases; installation, deinstallation; and as they are returned to their permanent shelving locations. Uses collection management and access systems in accordance with accepted practices and policies. Coordinates the packing and transportation of objects for imaging, conservation treatment, and matting/mount making. Schedules case cleaning and coordinates the maintenance of case environmental control with preservation & conservation staff. Installs collection objects, labels and facsimiles in the exhibition cases. May assist outside vendors working on-site to install window films, printed banners, and other specialized graphic elements. Follows exhibit work plans and monitors schedules to make sure work stays on track. Works with outside vendors on the curator's behalf to create facsimiles, banners, posters, brochures, and other printed promotional exhibit materials. Maintains documentation, planning tools, equipment, and supplies in the exhibition prep workroom(s). Maintains the schedule for the use of temporary exhibit cases and installs objects and labels. Provides training to student assistants. Assists with the uploading of content into templates for digital or web components or companion pieces. Fabricates simple mounts; and in consultation with conservators, creates complex custom mounts. Assists with disaster recovery operations following standard recovery procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Works in multiple different library locations to execute installation/deinstallation tasks and to participate in meetings. This technician position will be primarily posted at Beinecke Rare Books & Manuscript Library located at 121 Wall Street in New Haven. Required Education and Experience Two years of related work experience in the same job family and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
