The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of portraiture of the people who have made or who are making British history and culture. In recent years the Gallery has attracted around 2 million visits and is among London's most popular museums, it reaches and engages these, and further UK and global audiences, with its extensive display, exhibition, research, learning, outreach, publishing, digital and national programmes.
Assistant Conservator: Works on Paper Part-time, 16 hours (2 days) per week £10,321 per annum (FTE £25,802 per annum) Fixed-term for 18 months We are seeking a passionate Assistant Conservator: Works on Paper to be responsible as part of the conservation team in the preservation and conservation of drawings and photographs from the National Portrait Gallery's collection, as well as to assist in providing conservation expertise in support of the gallery's display, exhibition, regional partnerships and loans programmes and the delivery of the conservation programme in relation to the Inspiring People project. With a keen interest and knowledge in art history and contemporary art and a good understanding of art on paper, their requirements and conservation approaches for treatment, the successful candidate will be able to use their excellent communication skills to provide advice and collaborate with team members to ensure that conversation processes are fit for purpose and are aligned with studio project aims and resources.
