Part-time Book and Archives Intern
Peckham London

1-2 days per week, for 5 months (flexible) can be arranged to suit.
Book conservation intern sought to join a small, independent workshop in
London. The workshop provides high quality professional services to museum
and library collections, archives and private owners.  The applicant will
be working alongside accredited conservators.  You would be required to
perform conservation treatments on rare books and manuscripts, and other
archival material including posters, modern printed materials and
parchment.  Must be passionate about working with books and keen to learn.
There will be an emphasis on high quality practical skills and good written
and verbal skills are a must.

Pay rate: London Living Wage GBP10.20 per hour.

Key skills required:
Recent graduate with a degree in Book or paper Conservation with relevant
hands-on experience.
Good time management and ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight
project deadlines.
Demonstrable practical experience in a variety of materials including
leather, paper and parchment including remedial and research skills.
An understanding of, and ability to apply the professional code of ethics
to practical conservation projects.
Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confident working
relationships.
Able to work in a team, contributing to the maintenance and management of
shared equipment and space.
