The Guildhall Art Gallery is seeking both an experienced painting conservator 
and an experienced frames conservator to join the conservation team consisting 
of a Senior Conservator (paintings), a Conservator (paintings) and a Lead 
Conservator (frames).
 
Guildhall Art Gallery houses the City of London’s art collection. We are an 
accredited art gallery offering a lively exhibitions program to the public. The 
collection comprises over 4,500 oil paintings, works on paper and sculptures. 
Highlights include London topographical subjects from the 17th century to the 
present, Victorian paintings, civic and royal portraits from the 17th century 
onwards and the Sir Matthew Smith studio collection.
 
Successful applicants will be working with the City of London collection; 
examining and documenting works to a high standard, carrying out in-depth 
conservation treatments, preparing works for exhibition, display, loan and 
storage, implementing preventive conservation measures and maintaining the 
gallery environment.
 
Candidates must have a post-graduate qualification in their specialism or 
equivalent, with some relevant museum conservation experience preferable. 
Candidates require a strong practical ability to carry out conservation and 
restoration treatments of paintings or frames, good problem-solving skills and 
the ability to confidently work independently and as part of a team.
 
Successful applicants must be resident in the United Kingdom and be eligible to
