The Conservation department at the British Museum is looking to recruit a 
Conservator with specialist knowledge in the area of Chinese paintings and 
graphic art as well as South Asian pictorial art on paper and silk. The post 
holder will care for the collection through a combination of interventive and 
preventive measures in support of the museum's operating plan, and contribute 
to public outreach activities.

Key areas of responsibility:
·         To contribute to the conservation of Chinese and South Asian 
pictorial art on paper and silk;
·         To contribute to the preparation of objects for loan, exhibition, and 
permanent display.
·         To contribute to the care of the collection through dedicated 
projects on collections in store.
·         To assist with the care of the collection through documentation, 
surveys, data collection, analysis, and support at public events.
·         To contribute to the conservation of materials / object types outside 
of own specialism as necessary.
·         To work collaboratively with colleagues within the department.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will hold a recognised professional conservation 
qualification related to paper conservation and be able to pass a colour vision 
test. You will have excellent practical skills in paper conservation and have a 
strong interest in the conservation of Chinese and South Asian material
You will be an excellent problem solver who is able to work under pressure to 
deliver set objectives on time and to budget. As an effective and open 
communicator, you are comfortable presenting your work publicly and also enjoy 
working collaboratively in a team.
