Dear ConsDistList Members,

Some of you might have already heard of us. We are a group of Germany based
conservation master students, who aim to draw attention and promote the job of
conservators to a general public by representing a correct picture of
conservation work tasks.

Who doesn‘ t know the sentence: „Conservation? What is that?“, when introducing
yourself to somebody outside the cultural heritage sector? We all know
conservation includes a broad field of work tasks, but others don't. Especially
as the ‚younger‘ generation of conservators, we feel committed to represent our
profession to a broader community (and online).

That is why we founded the ‘Young Conservators’ volunteer group. Within we are
active on social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, where
we regularly post insights of our everyday working life.

What do we ask of you? Conservators are a relatively small group of working
professional compared to other (far better known) professionals like managers,
doctors or judges, which is why we think that only by working together and
joining forces we can move something in minds, politics and (maybe) pay roll
wise. So first we would be delighted if you come and join us internationally on
our accounts and share it with friends:

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YoungConservators/

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/young_conservators/

Twitter: https://twitter.com/YConservators

Secondly we are always happy about content from various fields of conservation,
as we are students of different fields as well. So if you have an interesting
project, insight or activity going on, please feel free to contact us via
social media or email: [email protected]

(If you do send us pictures, please make sure you have the legal rights to give
it to us and for them to be published online.) We are also happy to cooperate
with other University students or young professionals. Important: We do not
promote individual institutes, education courses or job opportunities! We do
not intend to compete against anybody. On this particular topic we think it’s
best to work together, and not separately open accounts.

We understand our group to share content with an interested public but also
(importantly!) with professionals world wide. Follow us, share us, let us know
what you think!

Thank you, happy new years and best wishes from your Young Conservators Team,

Astrid, Charlotte, Johanna, Mariana, Nora, Sarah and Ronja
