We invite you to participate in workshop related to Green Conservation and 
Street Art, to be held next February 19th and 20th at the School of Arts – 
Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Oporto, Portugal.

In the area of Cultural heritage, various initiatives have been developed in 
the field of Green Chemistry (green chemistry), with the goal of replacing 
products and methods highly injurious to health and the environment more 
secure. The aim is to ensure a satisfactory preservation of works of art as 
well as the safety of conservatives-restorers and the environment during the 
speeches.

During this workshop will be presented the innovative Green products developed 
by the Organization YOCOCU (YOuth in COnervation of Cultural Heritage).

The first of two days duration will be dedicated to illustrate the 
effectiveness and possible applications of the so-called GREEN RESCUE and two 
amino acid-based products. The GREEN RESCUE has shown excellent efficacy in 
removing aged varnish used in paintings. Amino acids are used to remove 
chromatic changes caused by metal corrosion in petroleum holders.

Finally, will be addressed the cost-effectiveness of the various strategic 
choices require.

Based on case studies and practical work, the workshop will combine scientific 
knowledge and the experience of conservation, developing in the participants 
the knowledge about the products and the Green approach to heritage 
conservation Cultural.

In the second and final day will be addressed the implementation of Green 
products in conservation of street art.

Contemporary murals are works of art complex, involving different types of 
substrate and the use of heterogeneous materials on pictorial construction. 
During the workshop will be described the methods and innovative materials 
developed by YOCOCU and other public and private institutions for the 
preservation in situ of these works.

Will be exhibited modern methodologies for the conservation and long-term 
maintenance of murals in public spaces and rated the performance of different 
types of protective coatings.

Finally, will articulate knowledge of the materials and methods used by street 
artists and in actions of vandalism with the chemistry of the methods and 
cleaning and protection products.
