Hello, as part of my master thesis in Objects' Conservation at the State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart I am trying to evaluate a reliable conservation method for archaeological waterlogged antler. Focus will be on characterizing the extent of degradation to get a satisfying conservation result with long term stability, dimensional integrity and ideally utilisability for scientific research purposes (aDNA etc.) after conservation. Besides the development of a system to determine waterlogged archaeological antler for its state of preservation I am looking forward investigating various approaches in the conservation of waterlogged archaeological antler.
