The Baltimore SCIART consortium ( (https://sciart.umbc.edu/) is a collaboration between the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University and Morgan State University, all Baltimore, Maryland area institutions, in the field of art conservation science. The consortium is seeking a postdoctoral scientist for a 3-year research and education fellowship in the field of art conservation science beginning May 15, 2019. The postdoctoral fellow will report to the Baltimore SCIART Consortium Director. Prof. Zeev Rosenzweig of the Department for Chemistry and Biochemistry at UMBC. The postdoctoral fellow will play a key role in managing the summer research program of the Baltimore SCIART consortium and pursue a cutting-edge research project in the field of art conservation science working together with Prof. Rosenzweig and conservation scientists, conservators, and conservation fellows at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore.
*Required Education, Experience, and Skills* Ph.D. in chemistry/physical science combined with experimental research experience and an ability to conduct academic research, interest and experience in supervising undergraduate research and in outreach activities and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence are required. The successful candidate will have a high level of scientific achievement and a strong interest in a career in art conservation science. Experience with microscopy of diverse types, image analysis, and advanced computational skills is desirable.
