Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Media Conservation at The Museum of Modern
Art

September 2019–August 2022

The David Booth Conservation Department at The Museum of Modern Art is
pleased to offer a three-year fellowship in media conservation, starting
December 2019. This postgraduate fellowship is the third to be offered in a
series of three overlapping fellowships within a larger multi-year Media
Conservation Initiative funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The aim
is to provide training and research opportunities to postgraduate students
of relevant disciplines to fulfill the emerging need for trained media
conservators. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in the
planning and preparation of a workshop and peer forum, which form part of
the wider Media Conservation Initiative (mediaconservation.io)

Working as part of the media conservation team responsible for the
preservation of the audio, film, performance, software, and video-based
artworks in the collection, the fellow will be involved in a variety of
activities, including helping to shepherd new acquisitions into the
collection, assisting with exhibition preparation and documentation,
collection care, preparing materials for digital storage, and research. The
first two years of the fellowship will be at MoMA, with the possibility of
a third year at a related institution.

Salary is $49,000 per annum, plus generous benefits, including medical and
dental coverage and four weeks paid vacation per annum, with an additional
$3,775 stipend for research and travel. Applicants should submit a
statement of interest, a current CV, and a list of three references by no
later than March 15, 2019. For more information and to apply, please visit MoMA
