We are recruiting for a Conservator: Organics with specialist knowledge and experience in the conservation of wood and painted surfaces, in order to care for the collection through a combination of interventive and preventive measures in support of the Museum's operating plan. The post-holder will contribute to the preparation of objects for loan, exhibition and permanent display, as well as supporting dedicated projects on collections in store. This role will also involve delivering an increasingly diverse public programme and supporting the department with the implementation of the Collection Care strategy. The successful candidate will possess a recognised professional conservation qualification to degree level, or equivalent, in the field of paintings conservation. With post-training work experience in the museum and heritage sector, you will have strong knowledge of contemporary principles and practice in preventive conservation. Experience working on archaeological and/or world cultures collections would be seen as beneficial. We are seeking a highly organised individual, who can balance diverse workloads and complete projects to agreed deadlines and budgets. You will liaise with a variety of stakeholders and will be confident in presenting work publicly. It is essential to pass a colour vision test for this role.
