Hello,

I am writing to inquire about suggestions regarding the consolidation of
organic remains. This is in reference to a Nigerian yam grater I am working on.
It is made of wooden rods tied together with vegetable fibers on which the yam
would be grated. There is a layer of the vegetable's pulp on the surface which
has dried and is beginning to crack and flake off. The conservator in charge of
this object would like the yam remains to be preserved as part of the object's
history and purpose. Has anyone worked on a similar project? If so, what
conservation materials and techniques were used?

Thank you,
