We are seeking a time-based media conservator to work within our time-based 
media conservation team supporting a dynamic programme, of exhibitions, 
displays and collection care. This is a new position in the team and such the 
successful candidate will work on supporting the display of works across all 
Tate sites working with a team of conservators and technicians. This role will 
require the understanding of individual artworks, their production techniques 
and technical requirements, as well as of risks for display and preservation. 
The role will also require undertaking collection care and preventive 
conservation activity and as such the successful candidate will have the 
opportunity to contribute to the development of strategies, procedures and 
workflows for the preservation of the works in the Collection.

You will either hold a recognised qualification in conservation or have 
equivalent relevant experience for working with time based media artworks. The 
successful candidate will need to demonstrate an understanding of the issues 
associated with time based media artworks and equipment and understanding of 
the long-term care issues for time-based media artworks and equipment, and 
ability to provide expert advice for their preservation. It is also desirable 
to appreciate the emerging themes and challenges within the discipline of time 
based media conservation.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to work independently on 
the examination, treatment, preparation and installation of time based media 
artworks. This includes documentation of the artworks and associated equipment. 
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral are 
required to effectively provide specialist advice to a range of stakeholders. 
Along with strong organisational, time management and planning skills to 
successfully juggle a varied but interesting workload.
