The Conservation Department is part of the Conservation and Collection Management Division. The Department contributes to the care and preservation of the V&A’s collections, prepares them for display and investigates their materials and technology. Purpose of Job Working with the Head of Objects Conservation, the Principal Conservator - Sculpture will work as studio manager and support the delivery of the Museum’s Public Programme and strategic objectives, particularly towards collections care. Planning and programming studio work, the post holder will make the best use of resources. The post holder will undertake all aspects of practical preventive and interventive conservation on objects from the Museum’s collections, including assessment and technical examination of objects. The work involves preparation of objects for display in galleries, exhibitions and loans, maintaining and improving their stability to ensure that they are safe to be displayed. This includes advising on the best handling, storage and safe display of objects. Applicants invited for interview will be asked to submit an electronic portfolio in advance.
