I have been asked to inspect an outdoor sculpture made from LLDPE which
has faded significantly in a relatively short time. I would be
interested to hear from anyone who has been involved in the treatment
of, or decision-making for, a similar sculpture. The original
fabricator has recommended that the sculpture be painted to restore the
colour, but I am concerned that paint will not bond well to
polyethylene. I think remaking may be a better solution in the
long-term, but perhaps there are more short-term solutions that could
assist to restore the colour such as buffing or clear coating.
