*Unique learning opportunity in textile conservation, with a focus on tapestries, within the Royal institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA) - Brussels -Belgium*
The Textile Conservation Studio of the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA) in Brussels has a longstanding tradition. With the upcoming retirement of one of our senior conservators, specialized in the conservation of tapestries, the textile conservation studio of the KIK-IRPA does not only want to preserve this knowledge, but in addition aims to diffuse this knowledge and go in to dialogue with the international conservation community. Therefore a learning opportunity for textile-conservators as well as master students, specialized in the conservation of textiles, will be provided in the form of an internship. The internship will run between the 15th of July 2019 and the 1st of April 2020. During this period, selected candidates can work side by side with experienced conservators to obtain knowledge and hands-on experience concerning the specifics of tapestry-conservation. The internship is in collaboration with the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels with whom a very interesting and challenging case/tapestry from their collection was selected: http://carmentis.kmkg-mrah.be/eMP/eMuseumPlus?service=direct/1/ResultLightboxView/result.t1.collection_lightbox.$TspTitleImageLink.link&sp=10&sp=Scollection&sp=SfieldValue&sp=0&sp=9&sp=3&sp=Slightbox_3x4&sp=0&sp=Sdetail&sp=0&sp=F&sp=T&sp=0 We would very much like to invite all interested candidates that match the criteria described above, to contact us with their application. Candidates are invited to email their resume together with a motivation letter to [email protected]. Please clearly mention during which time frame you would like to come to Brussels + the desired/possible duration of your internship. The minimum period of a possible internship is one month. Make sure the subject line of your application email is: Application internship in textile conservation, with a focus on tapestries. Please note that the possibility to provide any form of grants for travelling and accommodation is under revision at the moment and therefore not yet certain.
