Position announcement: Two lecturers in Conservation and Restoration of 
Contemporary Art specialising in Media and/or Materials (each position 60-80%)
Bern University of the Arts unites a multitude of artistic disciplines under 
one roof. The range of courses on offer includes degree programmes and 
continuing education in the fields of design, art, conservation and 
restoration, music, opera/theatre and literature.

Since 1999, the Modern Materials and Media Subject-area Group of the 
Conservation-Restoration Division has devoted itself to the training of future 
conservators and restorers of contemporary art.

Due to the further development and expansion of our specialist group, the 
following positions are being advertised:
Two lecturers in Conservation and Restoration of Contemporary Art specialising 
in Media and/or Materials (each position 60-80%)

For the 2019 autumn semester we are looking for two colleagues who will 
complement the existing team with innovative ideas, versatility and creativity. 
In particular this includes the collaborative, visionary and continuous further 
development of the existing teaching curriculum.



Ideally, you possess:

- Master's degree or equivalent in Conservation and Restoration of Contemporary 
Art (specialising in Media and/or Materials)

- Current knowledge regarding artistic positions in contemporary art, materials 
used, technologies and current discourses on conservation strat- egies

- Many years' experience in the management and implementation of conservation 
and restoration projects

- Research activities documented by publications

- Active international networking

- Lively interest in tertiary-level teaching and learning

- Good language skills in German, English and French



Your profile:

You are highly enthusiastic about the implementation of introductory and 
specialised courses at bachelor and master level. The positioning of your 
courses between high practical relevance and reference to the latest 
developments is just as easy for you as interdisciplinary collaboration. You 
have excellent knowledge, teaching and research experience as well as practical 
experience in the conservation and restoration of contempo- rary art.
