I am currently writing my MA Dissertation on the potential and extent to which archive materials can become polluted in the event of a fire disaster in an archive as part of my Master of Arts in Preventive Conservation at Northumbria University.
I am particularly interested in finding out if there is a standard protocol in which archive institutions and industry professionals use to deal with particulates and pollutants following recovery after a disaster, which appears to be a gap in the instructive content. There are two surveys; for the individual working in a library or archive and another for the disaster recovery specialist or independent conservator who has experience of dealing with (cleaning/repairing) objects following a disaster (this survey will not ask for specific details about the disaster or client). The survey should take less than 10 minutes and covers subjects such as pollutant monitoring, HVAC systems, cleaning methods and your experience, if applicable, of a disaster in your institution or practical experience with objects which have been affected by disaster. If you work in a library or archive: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/KT3JMFN If you work as an independent conservator or disaster restoration specialist: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/9XZM5H5 My sincere thanks in advance for your help.
