Head of Conservation Collection Care Department Location: London, United Kingdom Full time Permanent GBP 47,787- GBP 53,800 per annum Application deadline: 02 October 2019 The British Museum is recruiting for the Head of their Conservation department to develop and deliver Conservation's contribution to the Collection Care strategy for the preservation, conservation and study of the collections and contribute to the annual plan for the British Museum. Key areas of responsibility: The post-holder will deliver Conservation's contribution to the Collection Care and Operational Plan. They will develop overarching strategies for preventive and interventive conservation. Working with various stakeholders across the Museum and beyond they will ensure efficiency and effectiveness of object focused activities and processes. They will lead, manage, motivate and develop a staff team with a wide range of specialisms, maintaining and developing the skills and behaviours held by staff to meet current and future requirements. They will ensure that the quality and standards of conservation work conducted is maintained and that high-quality outputs are produced. Person specification: You will have a recognised qualification in conservation to degree level or equivalent, post-graduate training in conservation leading to specialism in a field relevant to the Museum's collections and professional management training. With membership of relevant professional organisations, you will be a recognised expert in a field relevant to conservation, both nationally and internationally. You will have substantial relevant practical, research and managerial experience. You will be an existing manager of conservation with experience of working in a large and complex organisation in the heritage sector.
