 Message:

We are pleased to announce that the Library and University Collections of the
University of Edinburgh is now hosting the Language of Bindings Thesaurus. The
University has a strong tradition in the study of the history of the book and
constitutes an excellent home for research around LoB. The new address for the
thesaurus is:

https://lob.is.ed.ac.uk/ <https://lob.is.ed.ac.uk/>

Having secured the new home for the thesaurus we can now resume its
development. In the foreseeable future we are aiming to publish several
drawings of basic bookbinding types as well as begin to develop a hierarchy for
partitive relationships across concepts. We will now also be able to publish
the work that several translation groups have been undertaking.

We are still seeking a host for the Linked Data version of the thesaurus. We
welcome communication from organisations that are willing to host the Linked
Data version of the thesaurus and are already maintaining a triple store.

The existing URIs for the thesaurus will continue to be functional. Requests
for the HTML version of the thesaurus concepts will be redirected to
https://lob.is.ed.ac.uk/ <https://lob.is.ed.ac.uk/> while requests for the RDF
versions will be redirected to the current address http://data.ligatus.org.uk/
<http://data.ligatus.org.uk/> .

We would like to thank Christine Megowan for her continuous support of the
thesaurus as well as Scott Renton from the Digital Library Development team at
Edinburgh who made the transition possible for the thesaurus.

 Subject: Linen Scrim Survey
Message: I am posting this survey invitation below on behalf of our
conservation intern. For any enquiries, please feel free to contact me.

Linen Scrim Survey

Dear all,

My name is Caitlin Hartmann; I am currently undertaking a Tapestry Conservation
internship with Historic Royal Palaces, UK. As part of my internship, I am
researching the use of linen scrim as a support material for tapestry
conservation. The aim of the project is to identify and update suppliers of
linen for use as a tapestry support material.

I have created a short survey to support this research, linked here, and would
really value the input of individuals who have worked with tapestries in any
capacity, both in the UK and internationally, to reflect a diverse range of
practices. Our goal is for the findings to benefit the tapestry conservation
community so I will be sharing a summary of the results with participants and
overall findings with the wider textile conservation field.

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete; I would be most grateful
to hear from you, thank you!

Dear Ms Rendon
I have in my laboratory storage 2 sheets of papyrus purchased from the
Cheops Papyrus Exhibition on Sphinx Street Nazlet el Saman Giza, in the 1980s.
We were using it for a similar purpose as you deascribe at that time. There is
about 2 sheets left 10" x 14in that I would be happy to send you no charge, if
you can send me a Stamped, self-addressed envelope, to the Fairfax, Ca. address.

Dear community,

Our lab is looking to consult some reliable sources that provide access to
papyri for purchase. We are hosting an REU summer group of students and want to
provide them with the opportunity to experiment with papyri.

Many thanks,

Monica

We have purchased sheets of papyrus from Roemer Shop, mostly for making
historical models: https://www.der-roemer-shop.de/Egyptian-papyrus-nib-quill-pen

It's not that expensive! A 21x16 cm natural edge sheet is 1,30 Euros. There's a
minimum order of 15 Euros and of course you pay shipping from Germany.
