Subject: Strategic and Risk-Based Approach to Collections Care Course -
Updated E-mail Address
 Message:
Dear Colleagues,

Apologies for the incomplete email address in my previous communication. Please
note my correct email address is [email protected]
<[email protected]>.

Heritage Collections Care Consortium is planning to offer the Strategic and
Risk-Based Approach to Collections Care course online. Please be aware that a
minimum of 6 participants is required for the workshop to proceed. The course
is tentatively scheduled for June or early July, and we aim to set the dates to
accommodate all interested participants.

Course Description

In today's ever-evolving landscape of collections care, effectively managing
risks is crucial to the preservation, conservation, and care of collections,
especially as resources become increasingly limited.

This highly practical course consists of two half-day sessions and will provide
you with a comprehensive understanding of a risk management framework and its
implementation in practice to enhance collections care and the well-being of
your team.

Course Objectives

In this course, you will:

Learn how to implement a comprehensive risk management framework that supports
your department's collections care strategy, planning, and fundraising
initiatives.

Employ practical tools and techniques for risk analysis and evaluation through
real-life scenarios, enabling you to make informed decisions and prioritize
effectively in collections care.

Assess organizational risks related to collection risks and connect them to
your broader risk management strategy to provide a holistic perspective on
collections care, enabling effective resource planning, strategic
decision-making, and fundraising.

Employ a risk management framework to create a more structured work environment
and alleviate stress and burnout in your team.

After the course, you will receive follow-up resources and support in
implementing what you have learned in practice.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is designed for heritage professionals involved in collections care
and conservation management, including heads of the conservation, collections
care, and curatorial departments, senior curators, librarians, archivists,
conservators, and collections care staff in leadership or management roles
seeking a more strategic and less stressful approach to collections care.

If you would like to express your interest or have any further inquiries,

Subject: Art Bio Matters Roundtable - Perceptions of Human Remains - Continued
 Message:
Dear all,

Following the overwhelming response to our March 27th session-where members
shared thought-provoking insights on European reliquaries and the rehousing of
human remains in a natural history museum-we're thrilled to continue the
conversation.

We invite you to join our upcoming online Roundtable discussion, which will
delve deeper into the complex issues surrounding human remains in museum,
cultural, and religious contexts.

As with all Art Bio Matter events, membership is required to attend and
participate in the discussion. If you haven't joined yet, you can easily do so
on the main website: artbiomatters.org/join-abm

required to attend this event. Visit artbiomatters.org/join-abm

Following the overwhelming response to our March 27th session-where two of our
members shared powerful insights into European reliquaries and the rehousing of
human remains in a natural history museum-we are excited to continue the
conversation. The depth of engagement and the range of perspectives highlighted
the need for further exploration of these complex and sensitive issues.

We are pleased to announce an upcoming online Roundtable discussion on the
topic of human remains in museums, cultural centers, and religious spaces. This
session will offer an opportunity to examine the ongoing ethical and practical
challenges surrounding the display, handling, storage, treatment, and
scientific analysis of human remains. It will also provide a space to share
diverse institutional experiences and foster thoughtful dialogue across
disciplines.

Our goal is to generate actionable insights that can support professionals
navigating these responsibilities and to encourage a respectful, informed
approach to working with human remains in varied contexts. We welcome
participants from across the field to join us for what promises to be a
meaningful and necessary conversation.

The event will be followed by a discussion with members in attendance.
