Subject: Register for Upcoming Online Workshop "Inclusive Mentorship:
Practicing"
 Message: "Inclusive Mentorship: Practicing
<https://learning.culturalheritage.org/products/inclusive-mentorship-practicing>,"
will take place on Wednesday, September 10 at 12:30-2pm ET, and is organized
by AIC's Education and Training Committee as part of the Inclusive Mentorship
series.

Participating in a mentor/mentee relationship is a valuable experience that,
while fulfilling, can leave the mentor/mentee feeling tongue-tied. Taking the
steps to put theoretical frameworks into practice is an important part of
cultivating change. Learning how to speak to your mentor/mentee in your own
words benefits and strengthens the relationship, creating a foundation of
growth for both parties.

In this interactive workshop, participants will put their prior learning into
practice by engaging with practical scenarios and developing their own voice.
Attendees will be guided by lectures while working in small groups to create
and refine their approach to establishing mentor/mentee relationships. They
will develop strategies for sharing earned knowledge and reflect on key topics
such as informed consent, inclusivity, and projections, while working to
understand the power they hold in these relationships.

Apply by August 18 to participate in this free online workshop. The live
session will take place in Zoom and automated captions will be available. The
session will not be recorded, but a self-study version will be released later
this fall.

If so, we would like to invite you to take part in our survey! As part of the
Archaeobark research project (archaeobark.org), we aim to identify the methods
used for conserving archaeological objects made from unretted bark.

www.archaeobark.org/survey <http://www.archaeobark.org/survey>

The survey is available in English, French and German. Duration: 15 minutes

Data privacy: We do not collect any personal information about participants,
and all data will be analysed and published anonymously. If you are interested
in the results or would like to be interviewed, you can leave your contact
details at the end of the survey.

By participating, you are making an important contribution to the preservation
of bark objects. Your experience matters!

Thank you very much for your support,

Subject: New UN Report on Israel's "war crimes" of attacking cultural heritage
sites in Occupied Palestine
Message: For those that missed it and as it was not mentioned in our latest
AIC Cultural Heritage Bulletin, last month, the UN published a report stating
that Israel's attacks on cultural heritage sites along with educational and
religious sites in Occupied Palestine amount to war crimes and the crime
against humanity of extermination. The Art Newspaper has an article following
up on this UN report.

As cultural heritage professionals we should continue to care about all human
beings-even if they are brown and Arab-and the destruction of cultural
heritage, staying informed and engaged. This is ongoing deliberate cultural
heritage destruction in the midst of a human genocide. Just last week Israeli
settlers set fire to the ancient Palestinian Christian village of Taybeh
including the 5th-century Church of St. George.

Additionally, for the American audience we should continue to care and stay
informed as these crimes are supported and paid for by our tax dollars with
$17.9 billion of military aid in one year from 2023-2024 being sent to Israel,
and $4 billion in military recently approved in March in addition to the usual
$3.4 billion annually sent from the US to Israel. United States funding for
Israel's assault on Gaza comes while our professional community directly
suffers the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars (annually) of NEA and IMLS
funding.
