An Introduction to Glenstone Museum
Founded with the mission to seamlessly integrate art, architecture, and nature, 
Glenstone is an art museum in Potomac, Maryland. Situated on over 300 acres of 
meadows and woodlands, the museum opened in 2006, expanded in 2018, and offers 
nearly 60,000 square feet of exhibition space to showcase its world-class 
collection of more than 2,000 works by 280 contemporary artists. Glenstone now 
has the ability to welcome over 100,000 visitors each year, and admission is 
always free.
 
The work culture at Glenstone is dynamic and team oriented. As a mission-driven

Position Overview
The internship will provide the opportunity to work with Glenstone's 
superlative collection of post-World War II artworks. Projects will be tailored 
to the specialty and interests of the successful candidate. The intern will 
contribute to the Museum's preventive conservation activities, outdoor 
sculpture cleaning, and exhibition installation.  Glenstone's conservation 
program is collaborative in nature.  As such, there are often occasions to work 
with other conservators, museum professionals, galleries, artists, and their 
studios or foundations. 
 
Required Skills & Experience
Candidates should be currently enrolled in a recognized conservation training 
program or have equivalent training. Preference will be given to candidates 
with experience in the following areas:
objects/sculpture
modern and contemporary art
preventive conservation
 
Salary & Benefits
The internship includes a stipend of $23.50/hour. The internship will be in the 
summer of 2026 and run for a minimum of 10 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks. 
Glenstone is offering optional housing as a taxable benefit for this internship.

 Subject: 2026 PMG Project Support Grant announcement
 Message: The PMG Officers would like to share the PMG Project Support Grant, 
approved by PMG members at the Business Meeting in June 2025. This new annual 
grant aims to support conservation or preservation projects that have a direct 
impact on the preservation of photographic heritage. 

This grant was established to broaden PMG's support of photographic heritage 
preservation. We welcome applications from small institutions, associations, 
communities, or individuals. Applicants do not need to be conservators or AIC 
members to apply.


 

Key information:




Projects must be relevant to the field of photograph conservation



Projects must result in a tangible and documented outcome that can be shared 
with the PMG membership through a report 



Application deadline: February 28, 2026



Total grant amount will be up to $2,000, distributed in individual donations of 
$500 minimum (there will be a maximum of four awardees) 



Applicants will be pre-selected by the PMG officers and approved by a vote of 
the PMG membership

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Foundation for Advancement in 
Conservation (FAIC) Oral History Project, and in celebration, a special day of 
events was held at the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library on September 4th in 
Winterthur, DE.

In this publication at the International Institute for Conservation of Historic 
and Artistic Works (IIC) News in Conservation, Issue 111, 2025, authors Molly 
Mapstone addressed her experience with the public reception and Rebecca 
Rushfield, F-AIC/ F-IIC and Associate Director of the FAIC Oral History Project 
shared her insights from the afternoon's roundtable discussion (held in person 
and online) at the museum. You can find the article in pages 58-65.
