1. Easel Exchange at the 2026 Annual Meeting ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.From: Magdalena Solano Posted: Sunday January 25, 2026 4:07 PM Subject: Easel Exchange at the 2026 Annual Meeting Message: The Paintings Specialty Group (PSG) and Contemporary Art Network (CAN!) are excited to offer Easel Exchange once again at the upcoming Annual Meeting in Montreal! Building on the success and positive feedback from previous years, we are expanding this year's Easel Exchange to 60 participants. This session will take place during a luncheon on the first day of the Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Easel Exchange provides conservators an informal, collaborative forum to present complex conservation problems to peers. Participants receive guidance on decision-making strategies for ongoing treatments, receive feedback on current practices, and create ideas for paths forward. This year's luncheon will focus on painted contemporary surfaces. Conservators at all career stages, specialties, and workplace settings are welcome to participate and share ideas and experiences. Before the session, participants will receive an email link to submit a brief description of an ongoing treatment/case study/ethical query. These submissions will be shared informally in small groups on the day of the event. Based on submission content, case studies will be organized across tables that may include the following topics: Cleaning Considerations New Conservation Materials Aesthetic Integration & Inpainting Structural Treatments Conservation Outreach Working with living artists/ artist interviews Installation and display considerations Ethics & Interfacing with Stakeholders Based on their submissions, participants will be pre-assigned to tables and groups to encourage meaningful discussion of the submitted case studies. This knowledge-sharing event will leave conservators with new ideas, practical tips, and potential solutions. How to register: (New changes for 2026) All onsite Annual Meeting registrations include only one programmed luncheon ticket at no additional cost. Registrants must select only one luncheon for the entire meeting (not one per day) during registration. Space is limited; register early to secure your spot!
