Unable to delete .svn directory

When I run a build (and specify to do a svn checkout instead of an update), I
often get this error :
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Unable to delete directory
/home/tomcat/continuum-1.1-beta-4/apps/continuum/webapp/WEB-INF/working-directory/3607/src/main/resources/sofinco/fwk/.svn
It seems to always happens on svn directories.
Is there a way to do an export instead of a checkout to bypass this problem?
