I have indeed configured svn to work successfully on that machine so I fully expect continuum to work properly when I add a project. But it's where continuum tries to download the pom file from the url I typed in the 'add maven project' form that I get the time out... so this is just the http download part of the process before it even gets to the subversion side of things.
I believe all I need to do is to configure the company http proxy somehow.
