I’m in full agreement with Seth’s list. Additional thoughts: Many figures feel very similar to each other in virtual dancing so take note of that when programming. Examples: Right allemande and right hand star. So a RH star to a Larks Rt Allem to a Partner swing will be very dizzy for a Lark. Robins chain over and back feels like a full hey for a Robin
Up the hall/Down the hall - Don’t assume that the camera/computer/device is up the hall for all dancers. Some dancers have more space sideways rather than up/down. Prior to calling a dance, it’s handy to let dancers know if that dance uses more space across the set, such as a full hey, or more space up/down. They can then reorient their starting position to suit their space. > On Feb 17, 2021, at 12:58 PM, Tepfer, Seth via Contra Callers > <[email protected]> wrote: > > Tips for Callers of virtual dances > Most are dancing solo, some have partners in the room; very rarely foursomes. > I prefer to call to those who are dancing alone and > In general, there is no difference between partner and neighbor, so try to > avoid having swings with both > Avoid 16 count swings > Watch out for an excess of CW moves (circle left, swing, DSD, Rory spins to > the right) > Avoid swing - circle Left 3/4 - swing > Keep calling all the way through.
