Don, Check out Rick Mohr's "Chuck the Budgie", written for Graham Townsend's "Pat the Budgie". Rick's dance is on his webpage and also has the clever title (Pat and Chuck can both be either verbs or proper names). Graham's tune is 32 bars AABC and the balances in B2 of the dance fit the C part of the tune nicely.

Obviously, there's singing squares, the Chestnuts and some well known examples like David Kaynor's Cherokee Shuffle. I'm looking for other examples of excellent "modern era" dances perfectly crafted to fit an outstanding or unusual tune - such that it surpasses the standard "pick the dance, then a suitable tune" approach to foster dance floor joy.
