Authenticating with system passwords over a plaintext connection is considered
poor security practice. It allows your usernames and passwords to be stolen. Do
you really want to access password protected data over http?
Please attach the actual httpd.conf which doesn't work, and the one which does,
and describe exactly the behaviour which isn't what you expect or want.
