Stephen, I did as suggested. The script took me through steps to associate a
database. Because I did not know the moodle user's password, I used admin with
admin's password, which was probably a mistake. I now have a blank page when
visiting the site.
I was essentially doing what the page above,
http://wiki.contribs.org/Moodle#Update
suggested:
"Visit your moodle site as admin to trigger the upgrade and complete the
install
Perhaps the wiki is not clear as to admin being SME admin or admin being Moodle
admin?

Whatever, is this recoverable?
