No but the MTA most likely is as SME Server by default is configured to only
sent e-mail for domains which are configured on the server. It should not allow
users from a domain that is not configured to send e-mail, I might be wrong but
perhaps that is the root cause, relaying denied points to it IMHO:

Diagnosis is kind of hard since you decided to obfuscate the error message. Is
the domain mentioned in the error above a domain that is configured on your SME
Server?

Have you tried subscribing to one of the mailing lists with an account that is
configured on SME Server and send a mail to the list using that account? Does
that work without issues?

Perhaps the list is configured to use the original from address the sender is
sending from, not sure but in older versions of Mailman there were some
settings you could tweak in order to change the from address.
