By now I have found out that we had serious hardware problems. One of the disks
in the raid array crashed. Every time Dar started the server went down as a
result of disk access. However the backupjob reported no abnormalities.
Be warned and check the backups at least weekly and make a backupjob for every
day of the week on another tape/usb disk
Learning the hard way is never pleasant....
