It is recommended to have this set to disabled, and use the
--enablerepo=smecontribs switch when upgrading contrib packages.
That way you do not inadvertantly upgrade to newer releases of contribs or
other package sin that repo that may cause unexpected issues, ie while doing a
standard system (ie base) upgrade.

I get a similar error on a sme7.5.1 server.
I tried what is suggested in the wiki at
