the fact is that mostly by importing it in sme8 repo we are copying the sme7
version, but sometime there are some cvs aliases in the path that make life
harder...
so as long as it seems to install it should work the same.
I think this is time to make some calls in the contribs 8 forum section to ask
for help from each contrib user like i did for hylafax.
for some contribs this is easy for us to test functionality, but when it needs
a lot of tweaks or hardware, we should ask in the forum.
alternative would be to only release and wait for complaints ...
not sure I to want to deal with broken backups
