i cannot reproduce the problem as it works on my VM. This is versions i have
installed, can you verify on your side.
# rpm -qa smeserver-userpanel smeserver-mailsorting
smeserver-mailsorting-1.2-44.el5.sme
smeserver-userpanel-0.9-11.el5.sme
can you give back the return of this command line
]# ls -la /home/e-smith/.procmailrc
-rw------- 1 admin admin 928 déc. 11 18:46 /home/e-smith/.procmailrc

Where can you find this warning, in /var/log/messages ?
indeed if a mail match a rule but if the rule is misinterpreted by procmail as
if the folder doesn"t exist or if the folder is miswritten, you can loose your
mail. It is a known issue.
did you try to send a mail to the admin which doesn't match ANY rules ?
in my case i have made a folder which is not under the inbox folder (not a part
of inbox folder), i set a sort by a subject "toto" with a rule to put the mail
in the folder "toto".
It works but in the rule field i write that the folder name is "toto" without
"/"
good way : toto
wrong way : /toto
let us know if your issue is already present.
