With more recent versions of smeserver-sogo the so-called "libevent-memcached
nightmare" should no longer be an issue.
The information John refers to in Comment 2 can now be found at
http://wiki.contribs.org/Talk:Sogo
where it is archived for historical reasons only.
Closing fixed seems to be the most appropriate solution.
