Maybe both bug 8777 and bug 8776 can be closed?
Patches to address both bugs where included by Daniel B. in
smeserver-vacation-1.1.5 and smeserver-vacation-1.1.6, respectively - and IIRC
1.1.6 is already the stable version in smecontribs?
