This seems to be the expected behaviour:
[root@mailserver ddclient]# cat ddclient.conf
daemon=300 # check every 300 seconds
syslog=yes # log update msgs to syslog
mail=admin # mail update msgs to admin
mail-failure=admin
pid=/var/run/ddclient.pid # record PID in file.
ssl=yes

Howeverf at 300s between runs, the log gets pretty full of ddclient stuff.
Perhaps it ought to log to a different file.../var/log/ddclient/ddclient.log
But then we'd need to logrotate it.
