There are a number of config errors that prevent the server from starting:
2021-04-30 09:11:47,528 fail2ban.configreader [58149]: ERROR Found no
accessible config files for 'filter.d/sshd-ddos' under /etc/fail2ban
2021-04-30 09:11:47,529 fail2ban.jailreader [58149]: ERROR Unable to read
the filter 'sshd-ddos'
I copied over the missing config file from a working SME 9.2 installation,
which got rid of the error.
Next problem was in /etc/fail2ban/jail.conf and centred around some changed
logpath names, specifically:
SSH
/var/log/sshd/current
IS NOW
/var/log/sshd/sshd.log
and
IMAP
/var/log/dovecot/current
IS NOW
/var/log/dovecot/dovecot.log
Once these were fixed, the server started normally.
