There is big rewrite of the logging system coming down the pipe.
Currently in smedev (please get a test box and test it - needs lots of bodies
and testing over weeks with logrotates))
It may necessitate a rewrite of the code on this bug but I am not sure at the
minute.
Please try it with the code form smedev and see what occurs.
