reference in the link does not state what is said in the link.
it states what i suggest that you first need to add an empty line for the
option before adding a new value to reset the initial value.
however, our old systemd version does ignore the dropin for install section.
(while it is reported to work in newer)
so you either might need a dedicated script to disable the unit and stop it or
update the systemd-default action script to handle .timer
