Okay, this is the logo for our Anime track. (If we haven't got an Anime page
yet, we need to put up an anime page just so we have something to display
this logo on. It's very good. :)

That said, I don't think I want it as the logo for the entire con. Not this
one graphic, I mean. Quite possibly another try by the same artist would
qualify, though.

My main objection to making it the logo for the entire convention is... Well,
nothing major, a bunch of subtle things, really. For one thing, the penguin
should probably be facing the camera, right now he looks like an accessory.
(Which, to the anime track, he is.)

Okay, backing up: This graphic isn't really a logo per se -- it's too
complicated to be genericized (Troy's old logo concerns; how would this look
like flattened to black and white and scaled down to 1/5 its original size?)
Now if the _character_ was going to become our linucon mascot, then I'd want
to see two or three other poses in different situations before committing.

In this particular picture, there are no other SF, gaming, or computer
elements. Or, for that matter, any computer anything. Perhaps she could be
dressed in a recognizable SF costume (Star Trek is instantly and widely
recognizable, Babylon 5 uniforms less so. Maybe a Cute Shoulder Dragon (tm)
would qualify...)

If I could do requests I'd have the girl and the Penguin sitting across from
each other at a small table (could be a full sized table with chairs, or it
could be sitting cross legged at a coffee table...) The girl would have a
laptop and be obviously DM'ing, the Penguin would be dressed in a wizard's
outfit (robe, pointy hat, maybe a nice bright blue color with stars and moons
and such), and the penguin would have miniatures and a character sheet and
pencils and such, and probably be rolling dice. Maybe if the scene demanded
multiple players, the BSD Daemon and FSF Gnu could be playing too...

Then again you don't have to try to stuff too much in a single picture. There
is a distinct advantage to having a cute female mascot/logo/avatar for the
event, though. You can dress her in different outfits for each page (gaming,
computer, etc), and that in and of itself would appeal to the masquerade
people...

If we had a few reference designs, we could even ask Howard Taylor to draw her
in a Tagon's Toughs uniform for our guest page... :) This artist, however,
is very good. Would they be willing to do more?

If she's going to be our mascot, the character will need a name. (If it's
Linucon, the obvious phonetic one would be "Lina", but then there's a
problematic "u"... Hmmm...)
