> Please allow me to introduce myself. I am the secretary for the Austin > Linux Group www.austinlug.org. We are a local 501(c)3 group dedicated to > education about and promotion of Linux.
I'm Rob Landley, the con chair for Linucon. You may remember I gave your group a presentation about Penguicon, an earlier combination Linux expo and science fiction convention. Penguicon is now established in detroit, michigan: the first year was a great success (see http://penguicon.sourceforge.net/report.shtml for convention reports, and the recently posted http://www.sluggy.com/con2003/penguicon03/ ). Penguicon 2.0 is April 16-18. See http://www.penguicon.org for details. > I was hoping to get more > information on how a group would participate in Linucon. We would like to > participate in your convention either with a booth or as volunteers. Organizational meetings are held approximately monthly. Our next organizational meeting is Saturday, April 3 at the convention hotel's restaurant (the Red Lion, I-35 and 290) at 3 pm. The best thing to do would be to send one or more representatives to the meeting. One of our agenda items for the next meeting is staffing. We currently have people in the following positions: con chair, hotel liason national marketing treasurer webmaster secretary Operations Panel Recording mailing list admin on-site network admin Registration Con suite Gopher herder We still need to find people for (at least) the following positions: Transportation Crisis management - First aid - Security GOH liasons Dealer's room - Table allocation - Vendor liason. Green room. Programming - Panels - Art show - Masquerade - Dance/ball - Dinner - Gaming - Filk Program book. > I look forward to your response. I hope to see your group at the meeting saturday. Rob
