I thought it was the hard drive/directory structure. It was, in part. It really looks like the memory went bad. I just put in brand new memory, and an additional hard drive to run internal rsync's on a daily basis.
Now I get to go buy more memory so I can finish making a backup server. Nothing should have been lost, since it wasn't real drive corruption.

Troy's server was down until just now. (Sending email to him to report the problem gave me the "couldn't deliver for 4 hours" message a couple times. And my cell phone battery's dead and I can't find the charger. Sigh...)
